With “Assemblage” our goal is to create an immersive multi-media installation at the Saasfee Pavillion in Frankfurt, in which multiple audio-visual works of different artists are sewn together algorithmically to create one big work that constantly reassembles itself in new ways. We use bronze.ai to navigate the vast body of work and aim to create an alternative format for group exhibitions of time-based art. The motions and temporal unfolding of the videos are tied to sound played on an 8-ch sound-system, through which sound is put at the center of the exhibition, rather than demote it to an underlying element.

overview
In the following we’ll present a selection of works which are approved for the installation, or are aesthetically representative of works which are commissioned of said artist. The works will be projected in large scale and high-resolution onto the back-wall of the space in which the sound installation is positioned.

Lifecycles
Further works will be created which will make use of the bronze.ai structure to react to geo-data of the Saasfee Pavillion. 3d animated Insects, plants and other organisms will grow and wilt over the course of the exhibition and cycle through morning, midday, evening and night-scapes depending on what time it’s being displayed. These reside on set screens, but will also be played as part of the 8ch sound installation if the algorithm navigates to those pieces.

system
The floor-plan depicts the position of the speaker-setup, the sculptural montage of the computer and the video projection in the pavilion. The 8-ch sound-system is quasi-detached from the visual projection, which uses 2 further speakers to play the original sound. This division is meant to further highlight the sound aspect, without fully separating the too, once the viewer walks to the visual-focused space.
Rechner Moodboard
Further, the computer central to the exhibition will be built into a railing system and set in scene aesthetically. The concept of the gallery as a dynamic space and eco-system with its own agency will be enforced with this contextualisation. The moodpboard below should give an idea as to what our aim is.
